Rock the Parkway Group Pic
/Meet your PB running family for a group picture before the race 7:00 a.m. on the grassy slope of Ward Parkway and Summit St which is near Burns and McDonnell 9400 Ward Pkwy. This is close to the start but away from the mob. Mo's mom will be there to take a group photo. And...don't forget to wear your PB shirts for the race!
RSVP's Needed for April 13th Long Run
/Due to a number of PBers running Rock the Parkway, we need a head count from those of you planning on a training run this Saturday so we can organize our course and volunteers accordingly. Please include the distance you are planning to run. RSVP by Tuesday evening kcrunning@hotmail.com.
Van Plans
/It's time to reserve the party van for Lincoln! All those planning to ride up to Lincoln with the group, please confirm kcrunning@hotmail.com ASAP so we can make our reservations for the right size vehicle.
Trust the Training
/Rock the Parkway half marathon is just around the corner and its time to taper. Tapering can cause a lot of anxiety. Runners tend to get antsy, worry about running fewer miles or not having done enough. Trust the training! Do not try to increase your training intensity or "make up" the week before a race. Running more mileage or squeezing in that missed interval session isn't going to better prepare you. It will do more harm and no good. Now is the time to eat right and rest the muscles with easy and shorter runs. Consult your training schedule for this week's workouts.
Here is what Ryan Hall has to say about the taper:
I constantly remind myself that resting takes confidence. Anyone can train like a mad man but to embrace rest and to allow all the hard training to come out takes mental strength - Ryan Hall
