Trust the Training
/Rock the Parkway half marathon is just around the corner and its time to taper. Tapering can cause a lot of anxiety. Runners tend to get antsy, worry about running fewer miles or not having done enough. Trust the training! Do not try to increase your training intensity or "make up" the week before a race. Running more mileage or squeezing in that missed interval session isn't going to better prepare you. It will do more harm and no good. Now is the time to eat right and rest the muscles with easy and shorter runs. Consult your training schedule for this week's workouts.
Here is what Ryan Hall has to say about the taper:
I constantly remind myself that resting takes confidence. Anyone can train like a mad man but to embrace rest and to allow all the hard training to come out takes mental strength - Ryan Hall
