Fall Marathons Require Summer Training and RRKC is Here for YOU!

In the world of distance running, the Fall begins in the Summer!

Training for most fall marathons requires ramping up to begin in June! Join RRKC for safe routes (a different one each weekend) and aid stations every 2 miles including ice in the hot summer months. Maps are provided prior to the run on the Events page so you can familiarize yourself and download to phone or Garmin. Printed paper maps are back by popular demand. Registration is now open for Saturday Group Runs June - August.

Summer speedwork begins August 1st and Fall speedwork begins September 19th. Speedwork will include strengthening, speed drills, stairs, hills, and/or a variety of interval workouts. Registration is now open for both sessions.

Phoenix Rising Run Specific Strength Class is SOLD OUT. But don't you worry...it will come around again this winter! Bwahahahahahaha.

To register for group runs and/or speedwork go to roadrunnerskc.com

Hospital Hill Cheer Station

Most every spring, RRKC cheers on local KC area runners as they climb the Broadway hill in the Hospital Hill half marathon. We hand out ice, orange slices, popsicles and loads of very loud cheers! It is a highly anticipated and favorite unofficial aid station for the runners. We are looking for volunteers that are committed to helping out. Amy Stucky will head it up if there is enough people available to make it a success! Please contact her at amyjojo23@yahoo.com if you are available. Race is Saturday morning, June 3rd.

It's Baaaaack! The BEST Run Specific Strength Training in Town

What is it? Phoenix Rising is an 8-week group class designed to help prevent injury and enhance full body strength for cycling, swimming and distance running. The format is similar to a bootcamp/circuit class and includes dynamic stretching warmup and cool down.

Where is it? CoachAmyPT clinic 4573 Indian Creek Parkway

Who is the instructor? Coach Amy has many years of experience teaching strength classes, plus she's like a physical therapist or something, so she works with this every single day. She typically completes the circuit with you so you can't complain about the difficulty.

Teasing aside, all the exercises are modifiable depending upon your level, but keep in mind it is an Intermediate to Advanced level class.

When is it? Wednesday nights 6-7:00 PM June-July.

Who is it for? It's for all the crazy endurance athletes in KC. Class size is small due to space restrictions and so that Coach Amy can keep an eye out on your form - she is a bit of stickler about that.

How do I sign up? There are only 3 spots left! To sign up go coachamypt.com > appointments and sign up for Phoenix Rising.
