Hill Repeats Cancelled

Sorry to report that the heat wave continues to bake us here in KC! The effective temperature is 99 and head index is 105. We will put off hills for another day. If you've participated in hill work with PB before, we recommend you incorporate four good hill repeats about .25 miles (a quarter of a mile) in length and a similar grade to our Nall hill into a morning run this week.

The good news is that temps are to return to normal next week so we should be on for regularly scheduled speed work as we go forward.

Hill Repeats August 26th

Erica at Nall Hill
We are going to train your body to do it right. You will feel the positive effect of hill training during your very next hilly long run. You will lose less speed up hill recover faster at the top. Hill repeats kick the booty into shape too- a very key muscle in running power. So, don't miss out!

Meet at 6:00 p.m. at the base of the hill at Nall and Indian Creek Drive. You can park along Indian Creek Drive between Nall and Lamar OR you can park in the lot where Indian Creek Dr. dead ends (E side of Nall).

Weather alert - we may once again face record breaking temperatures next week, so stay tuned to twitter @personalbestkc and the website for updates. We will make the call around 5:00 p.m.

Woohoo! Coach Amy Records First Info Video.

Coach Amy and Runner, Amy Stucky, at Heritage Park
We did it! Thanks to my beautiful and talented actress, Amy Stucky and my director, David Mitchell, we recorded our first informational video snippet for PB. It's a little rough and longer than it's supposed to be, but it's a start. So, coming soon to the PB You Tube channel: Less is More. You can blame JJ for pushing me into this!

Do you do Dailymile?

Many area runners and several of your fellow PB runners are logging their mileage on a social network site for runners called Daily Mile  It's like Facebook for runners putting you in touch with runners all over the world, in your neck of the woods or you can limit it to your own circle of running buddies.

Coach Amy is ON and although she sometimes falls off the wagon, she has spurts of participation and loves to keep tabs on her runners! If you run into troubles like burn out or injury it helps her to be able to look at your daily mile records for patterns.

If you mention Personal Best runs and classes in your posts it helps promote PB and Coach Amy's efforts to inspire, support and educate runners!

So don't delay! Get on Daily Mile today. Let Coach know at kcrunning@hotmail.com so she can friend you. Or, you can friend her: search for Amy Parkerson-Mitchell
