Congrats RTP Runners! It was an unusally humid spring race for this time of year. Finishing is always one of our goals with a race. And finish, you all did. Amanda completed her first half post baby and Jennifer C. PR'd. Congratulations to all!

Hills Tuesday April 29th

Hills at 6:00 PM Tuesday night! Coach Amy has previous obligations, so Greg is in charge of the run. Increase your hill repeats by two and if this is your first hill session, start with four repeats after the warm-up. Cool down is one mile. Meet at SW corner of Nall and Indian Creek Drive. You can park along Indian Creek Drive between Nall and Lamar OR you can park in the lot where Indian Creek Drive dead ends (E side of Nall). Enjoy the after glow and glute strength you will gain!

Closing In

It's not too late!
It's hard to believe we are closing in on the last month of our Spring training session! We are winding down a bit now as many of you have finished your races or are tapering, but this is no time to slack! If you are planning on racing Fargo, Cows or Hospital Hill, you still have time to take advantage of strength training and speed work. This coming week, hill repeats are on the agenda for Tuesday night. Strength training  classes have resumed their normal schedule on Sunday, Wednesday and Friday.

Injuries
They are to be expected even with the best of training. We want to keep them short lived by attacking them early. A few cancellations have popped up next week on Coach Amy's schedule, if you need to get in for treatment. Call the office ASAP and we will get you back on the road.

Upcoming
The Garmin marathon is this weekend and we wish all our PB runners a joyful and successful race! Also this weekend is our Saturday, long run. We will be meeting at the Shawnee Mission Park Marina at 7:00 AM and heading out onto the trails for 10 miles. PB podium updates are thick with finishers from RTP to Boston and we will update soon. Also look for upcoming posts about our end of season party and summer 2014 runs.

Good Luck Marc and Dan!

The 118th running of the Boston marathon is Monday and Marc and Dan are racing, one as a qualifier and one who has raised over $5,000 for Lazarus House charity. Thanks to those who donated! Marc was featured in Saturday's KC Star in an article covering the upcoming race. To see the article, go HERE.

Towards the end of mile twelve of my first Boston marathon, my running partner, Greg, said, "Amy, do you hear that?" A faint high pitched roar could be heard. This, I knew from Greg's stories about Boston, was the scream tunnel created by the girls of Wellesley College. Since the first race in 1897, the women of Wellesley College have stood screaming at the top of their lungs in support of the athletes. They enthusiastically wave signs that read, "Kiss me I'm ____" with some redeaming feature filled into the blank. Greg kissed two!

Some of the signs are created by hand and personalized for individual runners. In order to have a personalized sign you have to have "connections" and as fate would have it, one of our PB family, Amanda, is an alumnus of Wellesley College and she requested two signs be created for Marc and Dan.

We are so proud of both of our runners and wish them a safe and successful finish.
