There is Change Underway!

"The secret to change is to focus all of your energy, not on fighting the old, but on building the new." - Socrates. I wonder if Socrates knew how hard it is to make changes on a website?

We are focusing positive energy into some exciting changes for RRKC. We will have new offerings that will keep us running together all year for less those wanting specialization will have a menu of options. Stay tuned! Of course the website will look a little different to accommodate these changes. In the meantime, if you can't find what you are looking for on the website, e-mail us at info@roadrunnerskc.com. We are happy to help.

Brookside Farmer's Market Run

Miles solo.jpg

To bridge the gap between local businesses and the KC running community we are hosting a run this Saturday, October 1st to support the Brookside Farmer's Market. Bring some cash and support local farmers after the run with a few yummy and healthy purchases!

We are meeting at the tennis courts in Brookside in the little green space/park just N of the tennis courts at 63rd and Brookside Blvd. Parking is available just East of the courts. Start time is 6:30 a.m. and end time is 9:30 a.m. We will be set up for 14 miles. This run is open to the entire community for FREE! Feel free to invite friends and co-workers. RSVP to info@roadrunnerskc.com with your planned distance.

Speedy Sessions will Carve Minutes off you Finish

We are getting close! Can you feel the excitement of your races coming up? We've got two more speed sessions this fall, two more chances to make a difference in that finish time. Meet at Leawood Park shelter just South of the pool for some speed play this Tuesday at 6:00 p.m. You need to know your 5K and 10K race pace. Bring your stopwatch, phone with timer or Garmin - you must have it or the workout will be a bust. Water fountain will be available. RSVP to info@roadrunnerskc.com.

RRKC Runners Kick Booty in the Tri World

Jen and Melody at WIN KC Tri 2016

Jen and Melody at WIN KC Tri 2016

The great thing about tri training for those who are primarily road running is the cross training benefits of swimming and biking. If you can balance the training out carefully with your running race goals, the biking and swimming can help strengthen your run muscles without impact on your joints. Swimming can also help with your breathing.

A few RRKC members have dabbled with the triathlon this season and their running paces are improving. Jen K. completed the Olathe Women's sprint triathlon a few weeks ago. Congrats Jen! Both Melody and Jen completed the WIN KC sprint triathlon earlier this season. More on Melody
