PB Update

Mireya Corporate Challenge 5K
This Weekend Long Run
PB spring session is winding down! We have three group runs left before the end of the season and the start of the free summer run session. We will be set up for 12 miles this weekend at the Corner Bakery. Meet at 7:00 a.m. Hospital Hill runners, this is your last longer run. Strive for the mid 50% at goal pace.

Good Luck
Good luck to Doug at the Corporate Challenge half marathon and Mary at the Denver marathon and JJ if she decides to run the Scout Half. We wish you all a successful and joyous run! Remember, it's not JUST about speed.

Hospital Hill
Area runners love our enthusiastic support, our oranges and Twizzlers and if it's hot, they really like the ice at our unofficial Broadway Hill aid station. Please contact Allison if you are available to help out and/or donate items: ablanchard322@gmail.com.

End of Season Party
We are still making plans for this one! Details TBA.

PB Podium

Andrew, Greg and Michelle A. Cows 2015
Jen K Trolley Run 2015
Congratulations to all the Cow runners this past weekend. PB runners completing the rural route included Mike C. and Michelle A. who both earned the Heartland Series medal! Greg and his son Andrew, Dr. Jeff, Amanda and Jen K. also completed Running with the Cows half marathon. Way to go PBers!!!

If we've left you off the podium or made a reporting error - its been know to happen - it certainly isn't because we don't love you and only because we not perfect. Simply let us know and we will correct it!

Intervals on Tuesday Night

All right runners! We have three more speed sessions this spring session. I am proud of those of you have attended these on a consistent basis. Your sweat and tears have made a tremendous impact on your overall speed, efficiency and ability to fight fatigue.

Those of you training for Hospital Hill, it's not too late, hill repeats and intervals are a key training tool. Plan on attending for the next three weeks!

Some of you are recovering from races over the past few weekends. If you pushed your race, it is a good idea to take a break from the speed this week, but you are welcome to come out and run some easy laps or head out on the trail for some mileage.

Those with races this coming weekend, Denver marathon and Corporate Challenge Half, you are welcome to join us and do some light pick-ups, but no strengthening or intervals this week.

Meet on Tuesday night at Roe Park, 6:30 p.m.  we will do repeats combined with functional strengthening.

Coming soon: PB Podium and Long Run update.

PB Going On this Week

Brian and Amy S. at 5K
PB Podium
Congratulations to Amy S., Mireya and Doug who ran the Corporate Challenge 5K last Saturday and to Amy S. who ran a second 5K in honor of a friend who died of melanoma. Way to represent!

Speed Work
Hill repeats at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. If you are running Cows, you need to rest from speed work this week. Meet at the base of the hill at Nall and Indian Creek Drive. You can park along Indian Creek Drive between Nall and Lamar OR you can park in the lot where Indian Creek Dr. dead ends (E side of Nall).

Long Run
The location of our Saturday long ran has changed. We will NOT be in Olathe this weekend. We will instead meet at Shawnee Mission Park Marina at 7:00 a.m.  and will be set up for 10 miles.

Good Luck PB Racers
Good luck those Running with the Cows this Saturday: Amy S. (if she can kick her illness), Michelle A. and Mike C. We hope you have a successfull and enjoyable race day!

Long Run Deets for Saturday

JJ and Tyler IL Marathon 2015
OK guys! We will be set up for 12 miles of beautiful trail this Saturday. We are meeting at 7:00 AM at the Camelot Court Shopping Center at 11705 Roe Ave. The Corner Bakery is apparently no longer there and the parking lot is in the midst of construction, but I think we will be OK! Plan to meet near the CVS.

Training
Many of you are in the midst of a delicate balance between recovery and preparing for your next half. Please e-mail me if you have any questions about how to proceed with your training. If you are working towards another spring race and have fully recovered, then you should be running the mid 50% of your run at goal race pace and NOT lingering at aid stations. If you are in recovery, enjoy a conversational pace and gab it up with your friends. If you are running with the cows in a week, then you should be taking it easy and enjoying the taper.

HH Aid Station Making a Come Back
Allison Stoppel has agreed to head up our Hospital Hill cheering aid station. Please contact her if you are interested in helping out ablanchard322@gmail.com. I will be in sunny Florida, baking on a beach somewhere fearing shark attack so I'm out. This event is so much fun and the runners in the community as well as our own PBers racing HH have come to expect our positive energy and orange wedges on Broadway Hill so if you can, please help!

Podium Corrections
We inadvertantly left two VIP's off our podium for RTP. Eeek! Please congratulate Jen K. on her RTP finish - she battled an unusual injury that most people would have given up on to return and run a great half. And Lorena, man - she just continues to improve. She ran a PR breaking 2:00 with a 1:57. She thanks Amanda for keeping her going at mile 10 when she wanted to stop and walk! Way to go PB team!

PB Podium Update
Most recently, Jen K completed the Trolley run, surprising herself with some speedy legs and Tyler Wolf completed the Illinois Marathon this past weekend. Kevin and Pat both completed the Louisville Derby Marathon and Mo the half! Dave Rios completed the Nashville half and his girl Katie completed her first half. Hands in the air! Woohoo!
